I too am new, and didn’t “get” the deja vue concept. I’m working 11 -12 hour days these days. If it’s not beyond simple it’s beyond me…
I think all the overworked and overwhelmed folks out there are gonna like the new format I have cooked up for TOMORROW’s Deja Vuesday message, and again I thank all for their invaluable feedback! We should never assume that our audience is paying any more attention than they have to. Good lesson and I’m glad to have learned it.

It wasn’t clear to me that we were supposed to click on the link. (Also a lot of text ads look similar to that.) I think it’s easy to overlook that it’s a link…especially in the context that it is mentioned. I think the way it was phrased made it not clear.
This is what I thought when I read it, “Yeah, a magic carpet, hah. Good joke. Hey, where’s the rest of the blog post?”
Part of basic Internet marketing is to give a call to action, usually “Click here.” I think if you has actually stated something like “Read this blog entry called ‘A magic carpet to whisk you away’ for more information,” then not only would I have been more likely to realize it was a link, but I would have been more likely to click on it and actually read it.
I will go click on it now and read it.
Oh, one more thing…I wasn’t that aware that I was reading a “Deja Vuesday” post and so I wasn’t expecting to just find a link to another blog post…just assumed that the whole “article” would be in this post. I have read this blog before, so I vaguely recall the Deja Vuesday thing, but anyone new to the blog wouldn’t know what that was.
Thanks, Sharon, for taking the time to show me what it’s like to try to follow my thought processes! Sometimes we all make the mistake of thinking that people are more involved with our writings, talks, remarks, than they really are…which is a topic for another blog post!

Hi – I clicked on the email to “read more of this post” — the entire post did not come up. Instead I got basically a reprint of the email teaser. I did not notice the green link — I think the color is difficult to see. I am fairly young but have a challenge with vision sometimes but don’t think I am alone…. The first link easy to see appeared when I scrolled up – to click thru to see other dejavuesday posts. At least I was interested enough to try to find the doc. I am very full right now so the subject is of concern to me.

Thanks Shannon, appreciate your help here. The style of the links isn’t controllable by me, it’s part of the theme. Think I’ll try bolding it or something, or perhaps switch to another theme altogether.

And as to different subjects…they aren’t, really. The subject is always how to make your shop better, easier, more fun for your clientele and for you…and that’s a subject we can talk about til the cows come home or the bar shuts down or the end of never….
Personally I think this is a reminder…we tend to leave things where they are and not want to markdown to get it out of the store …but we have to …to make things look fresh and new…Thanks for all your insights they have been so helpful!!Keep it up girl…i can imagine how hard it is to be coming up with different subjects..
Just a question for all. About half who read this post, clicked through to the original post.
Is it because Deja Vuesday isn’t explained well as a re-cycle of a previous post,
or because the link (seen in the text here as green, with a dotted underline) to the full, original post is too obscure/hard to see?
Or did you just decide you weren’t interested in the topic today?
