I hate plane rides. So much, I bury myself in a book. So when I was getting
ready to go to the NARTS Conference in San Antonio last month, I made a trip to my local independent bookstore (no Borders or B&N for me, thank you any way; big boxes are not the way to shop in my humble opinion.) for something to read.
Found 2 books to read and I just finished devouring, for the second time, POP: Stand out in any Crowd by Sam Horn. You need to read this book if you really want to succeed at your consignment or resale shop. And obey her (yes, Sam’s a girl): DO the “9 Ws” exercise in Chapter 2 before you go on. It will make ALL the difference in how much the rest of the book works for you.
(After all, you’re reading this book for work. If you’re reading for fun, you’re reading The Picker Who Perished: A Too Good to be Threw Consignment Shop Mystery , right?)
Horn’s book is fun to read, makes sense, and leads you by the hand. What more could we need? A solid 8 on my scale of 10 being supercalifragiletc….. (only deducted the 2 points because she doesn’t always take her own advice, for example, the picture of her book came off Amazon because she doesn’t have a decent one on her site ;-( )
The other business book I bought is Blink, which I’ll report on soon. I also have Brag, a gift from my hero, Sarah Deveau of Cater Tot in Airdie Canada, which is on the top of my reading pile.
Did I ever mention how modern one-word names are? LOL

I agree Kate! I just finished reading this book and I’m going to start again and do the excersises. Most helpful! Thanks for the recommendation!
