Yes, it’s true. Even Auntie Kate, adored by untold legions of resale and consignment shopkeepers and even a few mystery readers, and (usually) a couple of brothers, sometimes feels, well, just the teeniest bit unappreciated.
Yes, thousands visit www.TGtbT.com a day, and almost a thousand visit www.HowToConsign.com and this blog a day.
But still, in the dark of the night, the “nobody likes me” goblin visits.Or the “you’re a loser and no one will ever invite you to the prom not even the geek” gremlin… that’s a holdover from high school. Then there’s the “who will ever show up for your funeral” demon… that’s a foretaste of old age.
That’s when I get up from my twisted bed linens, turn on the computer, and visit my little file called “praise.”
Yes, I save kind words. Pitiful, ain’t I? But it works. Reading it can soothe the soul. You might try it…put all the NICE things people have ever said about you in one place, whether it’s a computer file or an artistic collage.
I even have (the darkest secret of all) a “more praise” file for really long and dreary nights.
BTW, the beautiful painting here is by Val Sandell and is called Time to Return. Probably Val, with all her talent, doesn’t need a “praise” file, but just in case: It’s beautiful! I love it! You have made the world a better place by creating this. Thank you!

I sure hope there is at least one item from me in your praise file…cuz you deserve it. I always find it interesting that the people who seem so confident are just like me. Don’t we all have our moment of self doubt? We are our own worst enemies! I love ya Kate…I know lots of other people who do too. There ya go, another for your praise file!
