Is there any such thing as “TMI”?

October 12, 2007 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

One of the catchier abbreviations used nowadays is TMI, too much information. It’s useful shorthand for things you’d rather not know, such as your brother-in-law’s weird sex habits. And sometimes, you get much more information than you bargained for, such as when you utter “how ya doin’?” to a shopper in your store.Gift-with-purchase item NO ONE else in town has!

But IS there such a thing as TMI when it comes to directing your own career? No. You want input on maybe switching to buying outright from consigning?

Or what the 6 Super-Simple Ways to be a Successful Shopkeeper are?

Wondering what the best door prize might be for your clientele?

How about wholesale sources for your shop?

None of that is TMI, if you’re intent on making your business profitable!

Don’t pass up opportunities to learn. Web sites and e-newsletters abound. If you don’t subscribe to the TGtbT newsletter, please do. There’s a sign-up box on our home page.

If ever you’re tempted to say TMI… make file folders, whether manila or electronic.  Then file away info which seems like it might come in handy some day even if it’s above and beyond what you can afford, dollar- or time-wise, right now. With luck, you will utilize enough information to get to the stage when “How to spend your next $100,000” will be JUST the info you need!
