The Flamingo Has Landed

October 22, 2008 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

So Cathy was there all the time, and her great husband Ted, who was just checkin’ out the crowd before he went to visit relatives for the duration.

The Flamingoville mailbox, a gift to TGtbT from some Sharers who had gathered at the NARTS Conference in June, is in place by the pool. He/she (we haven’t decided and the Flamingo ain’t tellin’) is flanked, here, by Carolyn and Cathy as we await the arrival of more resalers (and as we try out the tiki bar, just to make sure it works.)

The Tiki bar was pressed into service as a consignment intake desk, as we role-played the procedures Carolyn wants to refine in her shop to make the process smoother for consignors, easier for staff, and more productive for Carolyn. She was her own lovely self, Your Intrepid Blogger AKA Kate played Dumb Consignor (amazingly easy for her), and Cathy sat off to the side and kibitzed about the whole process from an employee’s viewpoint.

Carolyn accepted my ball cap, beach towel, and coconut-shell bra (hey, you’re sitting poolside, you work with what you have!) I signed the agreement but I haven’t made any money yet.

Later on Tuesday, Janis and Kim and Patty showed up, but by then it was dark and my camera doesn’t work in the dark. Or maybe it was the fresh-squeezed OJ or maybe the coconut rum. Pix tomorrow!

Thank you all soooooo much for the beautiful flowers and the cute flamingo….I love it!!!!

I so wish I was there with all of you, I miss you!

Today was Day 1 at the store and it went really well. There’s still lots to do but the store is operational and everything will get done in time.

Feedback from customers has been very positive.

Can’t wait to see more pictures and read all about your escapades!

    Have fun,
    Glenda
