…or does anyone e
lse find the overwrought handbag, well… tacky? And paying an arm and a leg ($2400) for tacky is, to my mind, downright idiotic.
Even my old favs, Ferragamo and Burberry can have atrocious styling. (And doesn’t the Burberry resemble a dead armadillo? So why not buy this one and save $3179?)
Maybe they’re making these excrescences so they are harder to counterfeit? Well, understandable perhaps. But that doesn’t explain why women are buying them. Can they possibly be so unsure of their OWN worth, that they have to let the world know they can spend $2400 on something ugly?
And if I choose this Carlos Falchi, which is NOT ugly…will I be shamed in front of my friends and strangers on the bus because I only spent $800 on it?
Or will I simply be wise, and choose the gently-used good handbag of my choice from my local resale, consignment, or even thrift shop?
Yeh, that’s what I’ll do. Display my good taste and my frugal fashion sense all at once.
PS Pursepage calls Jessica Simpson’s bag, above, “classic with just the right amount of vamp.” Oh yeh.
