All done with the shopping, thank goodness. But now I need an eco-aware way to wrap these presents! Now!! And NOT one which will result in more trash in the world, please. And one that’s PRETTY.
(My mother specialized in #9… well, that, and using toilet-paper rolls that she turned into “candles”, that always contained the dreaded new underwear and socks. Every single year.)

My own mom used many of those ideas when I was a kid. She wasn’t eco-aware, just poor. At the time, I just thought she was very clever.
She once made an angel for the top of our tree out of a toilet paper roll. The roll was the body, then she added paper wings, an old doll’s head, and a puffy chiffon skirt. The angel’s pretty tired looking now, but highly treasured by me.
