Consignment Mailbox: Blowing up snowmen

November 23, 2009 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

A resale shopkeeper asks:

“How can I make nice signs for my windows?

“I don’t have very good handwriting, but I need signs bigger than those I can make on my computer.

Help! I can’t afford the sign shop’s costs, not when I change my window signage every week!”

Kate replies:

There’s several easy-to-use and free utilities on the web to blow up your graphics. Try Blockposters or Posterazor. Posterazor involves downloading their program; if you’d rather do this all on the web, use Blockposters…but watch the Posterazor video to see how to overlap.

You can make simple headlines in your word processing program in your choice of fonts and colors, then choose how big you want them to be. Even a simple Sale! sign can be a great boost to your windows, whether it’s taped to the glass or mounted on foam board and displayed on an elegant easel.

You can also use (copyright-free of course!) clip art.

Snowpeople come in all sizes To get you started, here’s a holiday poster to use from our consumer-oriented HowToConsign.com. You can blow these snowpeople up as large as you like, for a window poster…or even, as a “coloring wall” to keep the kids happy while Mom shops.

Not into blowing up snowpeople? πŸ™‚

Feel free to simply print out the illustration to use as a giveaway to good little kids.
