You become eligible for the drawing simply by commenting here, and it’s no harder than putting your 2-cents’ worth over at Sharing on the Premiere Site for Professional Resalers, Too Good to be Threw.

I love never getting bored. I can’t think of a job with more variance in work experience than this one 🙂
Aimee….I think you hit the nail on the head for ME and why I love resale shopkeeping. There’s an endless variety of things to do, stuff to work with, and people to interact with. And every activity makes money, either right this minute or in the future…it’s immediate gratification! (At least til that gorgeous display gets wrecked 😉 )
I love the STUFF! It’s like Christmas everyday of the year!
Also, being my own boss! I feel blessed and honored to work with such wonderful consignors, customers and staff.

Most of what I love has been already mentioned. I think having a job that I really look forward to everyday is so important, so I’m going to pick that as my very favorite thing. But, I also love being able to make people smile when they find something perfect or get a nice fat check for their stuff. And being able to watch an employee grow from a shy 17year old into a confident 23 year old who can run the store by herself. Or watching the babies grow into todders and preschoolers. There’s just so much about this job that is fun that I don’t really consider it a job!
There are a ton of things I love about co-owning a shop! First and foremost, I love the diversity of the day. Its never the same! Plus considering I am completely obsessed with all things clothing, its the perfect business for me! Second, I love providing the absolute best customer service. Finally, I love being part of the team of the decision maker. My partner and I work so well together that I can (and we often do!) spend hours just discussing the ins & outs of the business model and the details of every aspect of the shop.
Like everyone else, there are so many things I love about being a shop owner, it changes daily. Today it was a customer telling me it makes her day when she shops in my store.
Another day it is when a customer tells me my store is the first place her teenage daughter wants to shop before she goes to the mall.
Or when a child runs up to me and says “Hi Marriette”, gives me a hug and tells me how his day is going.
My favorite part is that customers walk in the door because they want to be there, not because they have to be. It never ceases to amaze me that I’ve created a place where people want to be. The chime the door makes when it opens makes me happy.
I like hearing customers tell me that they don’t need a therapist because they can come in the store feeling troubled, and walk out feeling great.
I like it when customers find the perfect piece of clothing or home decor without buying new. I feel I’m doing a tiny bit to save the earth.
I love the friends I’ve made – both in the store and through tgtbt and Narts. When I hear from shop owners I never would have known, or when a customer walks out the door and tells me she loves me, I know I’m in the right place.
I love helping a woman with a new major weight loss “find herself” on so many levels.
I love that I get to meet all the newborn babies, proud new parents & grandparents in town.
I love the sense of relief people have when they realize they’ve found an inexpensive way to shop for their children.
I love how my day flies by, I never watch the clock wondering when work will be over (a big change from my old career).
I love the constant thrill of discovery as unique and enticing items are added to my shops. I sell retro mid-century antiques and collectibles from the 50’s – 70’s.

I love the people I have met and continue to meet on a daily basis.
I love being able to talk all day without getting in “trouble.”
I love looking through other people’s stuff, especially when it’s really good stuff.
I love seeing little newborn babies every day.
I love comforting pregnant first time mom’s and telling them that everything is going to be okay.
I love that my store revolves around the concept of recycling.
I love that people seem to love my store.
I love when I hear people are disappointed they didn’t see me today (don’t tell my employees, they hate that :).
I love being a consignment shop owner!
I love alot of things. The people I’ve met. I love seeing all the great things coming in. Most of all I love being my own boss.
I love everything about it, especially the people I have met! I kinda feel like a bar tender at times listening to some of the things going on. Everyone of my customers are very family oreinted and I especially love this about my shop. I love that I take my dog Max with me almost everyday and my grandchildren are able to come and earn alittle money helping out!!! I love my shop!
By chasing my own dream to the best of my ability, so many others, on both sides of the counter, can choose to follow their own. Whatever they may be.
I love the challenge of running my own business. I love the fact that I can keep my store “lean and mean” which can be extremely difficult in traditional retail. I love the look of surprise as new customers ask, “Is this stuff really used?” because everything is displayed and organized “just like a real store!” 🙂
I love so many things about being a shop owner:
I love the people I have met. I have made truly wonderful, life long friends since opening my store.
I love the thrill I feel when I find something truly amazing to sell in my shop.
I love being able to shop for myself and my family without having to go to the mall.
I love being able to make money without feeling like I go to work.
I LOVE it that no 2 days have been the same. It’s a different page each and every day. The people are amazing and sometimes amazingly difficult, but each interaction challenges me as a person and the growth and fullfillment I have received could not have been duplicated in another setting. I feel I have had success beyond what many people even dream about – in the fact that I love what I do each and every day and I get to meet such great people and they affirm me by doing business with me, and when I get a compliment on my business I feel the pride, and when I get a complaint I get to do something about it.
It’s been a most incredible ride, that will continue for time to come. Most of the success and joy that I have experienced have come as a result of Kate, TGTBT and NARTS.
I like handpicking exactly what items are going to be sold. I love when consignors come in because going through their stuff is the best part. I think I have a natural eye for style and fashion and I know what women like and wear.
Being my own boss is a plus too 😉
I love all the people I have met. I love the flexibility this job gives me as my kids come first so I am able to work around their schedules. My customers understand this. I love helping people save money and help a little bit to save the environment. And most of all, I love watching the kids grow up right in front of my eyes. To see the moms pregnant and watch the kids grow is just amazing to me..

I love making it happen. From the buy to the merchandising, to the sell, it’s just one big whirlwind of excitement. I really LOVE our customers, they’re interesting, they;re knowledgeable, and they are a great combination of demanding and understanding. I feel like we’re in a really “human” business, helping people sell and helping people find value. And this is the original “Green Business” all our wares are inherently “green” because they’re reused.
Welcome Jesse! Folks, Jesse’s a Sarasota neighbor whose business is a-MAZ-ing. Imagine dealing in doors, bathtubs and giant statues! And he is SO active in local historic and preservation issues…always hosting, supporting and working with local issues. His fund-raising parties are THE place to be. Just this past weekend I did my little part of the Historic Homes Tour he helped run. (My job was to show the servant quarters of an old house (appropriate, doncha think?)
