Offering the sameold sameold to your consignment or resale customers? How about doing it with a twist?

September 30, 2010 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

The most popular post on my blog recently has been this oneAll retail is having a hard time motivating customers. Even resale and consignment shops., which I had almost forgotten.

I talked about how customers had gotten so jaded, a simple 10% off didn’t make them bat an eyelash, yet alone grab the car keys and a friend on their way to your shop.

Current interest in motivating customers runs especially high now. I saw two more empty storefronts on my way home yesterday. It’s getting scarier. Customers are tired of the sameold sameold shouting in their ear about 10% off! BOGO! Deals you can’t beat!

If consumers were jaded by retail desperation back when I wrote the post, it can only be worse now, almost two years later.

As I said back then,

With a spate of 10% off offers in my e- and real-life galvanized mailbox, I find myself yawning. Ho-hum. Ten big-deal percent off?

But even a small reduction in price can have great results, when done with some personality, flair…and a cute reason to beat a path to your retail door. Stand out from the crowd by offering the sameold in a new outfit. The original post is here: Has retail desperation jaded me?

Just switch out the Christmas/Hanukkah etc card for a Halloween greeting card.
