What can a shopkeeper be for Halloween?

October 8, 2010 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

It’s fun to plan a Halloween costume, but what can you work in all day long as a shopkeeper? You’ll be uncomfortable in that French maid outfit, and ringing a register as Darth Vader isn’t ideal.

My most successful outfit, if you don’t count the home-made antlers that I couldn’t get to stay up, is this…my

Chocolate Mousse costume.

Brown leotard and tights, brown suedecloth jerkin with candy wrappers pinned to it, and yes, fuzzy brown slippers. A touch of brown on the nose, whisker freckles, and good to go.

Of course, there were potential consignors who took issue with a large moose declining some of their stuff as “no longer as popular with our customers as they once were.”  But I just gave them a (Hershey’s) kiss and they were happy campers.

See the free resources on our Resale Halloween page. (Print out the costume ideas and the coloring pages, brought to you courtesy of the consignment, thrift, and resale shop Sponsors at HowToConsign.com.)

Great idea Kate! I loved seeing the picture of you in it, too. Thanks for sharing!
