Oh, that just puts me in the mood to buy.

Scent is the most humble of senses… one whiff of something from your past and you are emotionally there.Scent can make consignment and resale shoppers buy

And you can use scent in your consignment shop

to transport your shoppers into fall… making them long for those bulky sweaters, chenille sofa throws, autumnal-toned items with something as simple and non-obtrusive as a smell.

Pleasant smells make people browse longer

… and in consignment, resale, and thrift shops, we need that… with our thousands of unique items, we want shoppers to see it all!

What says fall? The smell of

Cinnamon Fall, holidays, family, celebration, not to mention the decadent indulgence of cinnamon buns: what could be more inducive to lingering over fall items even when it’s 90 in the shade?

Vanilla Nothing says lovin’ like… the scent of home baking. Yes, Mom made cookies for you when you came home from school. Or at least you wished she’d had. A smell of vanilla relaxes shoppers and lets them enjoy your shop.

Orange An all-season sales motivator, experts say.

More elaborate, blended scents can work as well… there’s a whole industry devoted into developing any combination you and they deem proper for your retail business. All well and good… but simple solutions work well too. Just steer clear of anything that might remind folks of Grandma’s bathroom mask-odor smell. And keep it light. You’ll quickly become immune to any scent you use. Ask a good friend to tell you if it’s overly noticeable.

Imagine having a signature scent in your business. Just like your logo, coming across it when your client is elsewhere will bring your business to mind. Who wouldn’t want to have a way to remind their clientele of their business?

More thoughts on smell.
