If your shop runs true to form in the resale industry, it probably doesn’t have nearly as many hooks as it needs, especially those temporary places for items sold, items being returned, items being discussed need. Wall space is all used up; there isn’t enough space at your counter for a clothes tree, so you end up putting those things on hangers flat down on the counter. Thereby knocking over the pencil cup, getting ball-point pen on that lovely silk dress, and/or snagging the adorable vintage mohair sweater.
What you need is a sky hook.
And we found one for you, in a consignment shop in Dallas.
Take a closer look:
It’s anchored in the ceiling, there’s a wide circle cut out of the ceiling tile so it doesn’t destroy it, it has no edges and it swings if you run into it so it’s safe. And it’s cheap!
I can see 3 or 5 of these in your show window too for displays. Even in the dressing rooms (just be sure to hang them high enough that Little Bratty doesn’t think they’re playground equipment!)

Oh my. I could use this one. Would be great in the front window for a temporary display. I could hang purses, shoes….the possibilities are endless. Thank you!
I’m trying to figure out how to build something using the chain. There’s a shop in Birmingham, AL that has glass shelving, four shelves, one on top of the other – think rungs on a ladder – and the sides of the ‘ladder’ hang from the ceiling. It’s located behind their cashwrap, and it’s where they keep their high-end handbags, chained to the shelf. It’ actually looks really cute, and I like the idea of getting rid of the ugly (to me) display case.
Sounds like that would be very striking. How about posting/ asking your clientele if anyone knows of a craftsperson who could engineer this for you? I’ll bet someone would love to volunteer her handy hubby, or her handy self, for s fistful of store dollars!
Love this idea. Although my ceeiling would probably cave in, I have those suspended ugly tiles.
That’s what this shop had as well, as you can see from the wide circle cut in the tile so the sky hook can swing. I believe the chain is attached to a rafter or such… Where’s RIck when we need him?
Where can I buy?
If I’m not mistaken, Alexa, the chain and the ring are both common hardware store items… remember, buy local!
