The most over-looked brilliant idea on my blog.

September 2, 2011 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

A neglected resource idea for consignment, resale, and thrift shops. Now I admit, with almost 1000 blog entries under my belt and on this site, there have been a few clunkers. And some which just didn’t apply to your situation. But still….

But this one, which 90% of my viewers could use so darn easily, is

the most neglected of ideas. Haven’t seen anyone use it.

Why is that, you think?

Bad idea, too much work, not enough how-to to go with the concept? Not part of your overall marketing strategy for your consignment, resale, or thrift shop? You missed the post? You hate the idea of having a free web page you can use in Facebook, Twitter, your blog?

Or maybe it just got filed in the backroom of your brain? I know what that’s like!

S, If you are using Constant Contact (I am sure the process is similar for other providers, but CC’s the one I am familiar with), you CHOOSE to archive your created email. You can even choose to archive a past email. Each archived email has its own URL, hosted on Constant Contact. And yes, the archived email is at that URL forever.

You could, of course, replicate your information on your web site, but once you’ve created such a great motivational piece for your email, why not get full use out of it without doing more work?

With the archived newsletter URL, you can send the info out again, even if you’ve already linked it to all your social media when it was first emailed (so folks NOT on yr email list, but who see you on FB, Twitter, etc will get a note about it)… for example, you might want to create and send an email to your list about an event 2 weeks in the future. THEN you might wish to (well, okay, you BETTER) remind folks a few days ahead… and maybe even the evening before. You do that by social-media mentioning the URL again, like “Don’t miss. BlahBlah or “What are you wearing to tomorrow’s BlahBlah” followed by the archived email’s URL.

It’s like putting up a poster and shining a spotlight on it!

Hope that helps. Certainly is a lot of stuff to learn and use, isn’t there?

    Kate,
Thanks for the reminder. I’ll try a stand-alone blog page to announce my sidewalk sale!

I guess I just don’t understand it…will it link to ALL my emails…even expired ones? Is it any easier to put the link on my website than to put the information on my website? or is it just for facebook and twitter…I set my emails to be shared with those anyway. I guess I will file it in the backroom of my brain until I have time to research it….but there is so much other stuff back there 😦
