Prepping consigned or donated goods… how much do you do? »

How would YOU price that?

A gently-used designer handbag from a Facebook albumA handy little reference from another resaler. She’s taken the time to photograph and caption lots of her merchandise.

Now remember, what that shop can get for something is

to your consignment, resale, or thrift shop. But still, we all love to know, don’t we? Write her a thank-you note, if her efforts have helped… or even just interested… you.

The photo I’ve used here is from another consignment shopkeeper. I found it on Facebook and saved it but forgot to note whose photo it was! Maybe Alexa’s? Sorry…

We were “reviewed” on yelp, only 2 stars, yesterday, partially because they said our employee was giving bad customer service.. and partially because of our policy of needing to bring items in “freshly laundered” & “laid flat”.. Apparently it is “our job” to steam everything.. (I didn’t know they owned the business and decided what was our job).. We do steam items, mostly just the maternity.. Once in a while some little girls dresses.. She did make mention of our good prices.. I suppose we could go the other way, start steaming everything and then raise the prices.. then deal with lots of yelp reviews saying we have high prices.. Whatever. It’s our business, we offer 100% excellent customer service, some people do get agrivated that they need to follow our two things that we ask of them.

So, did you take the poll on the next blog entry? Hope so!

    Wow – I don’t iron my own clothes 🙂
But on occaision I do wash some clothes that come in – if they are a great brand, or a good customer who didn’t notice a stain. But I try to avoid clothes that need too much help.
We do post our items in a facebook album – not the clothes – but some of the bigger gear. http://www.facebook.com/GentlyLovedBaby?sk=photos

This is great, but it also makes me ask? Why not iron your item before you take a picture? We iron every item that enters our store, and then again after it has been tried on if needed. This procedure has increased our sales a great deal and has set us apart from others.

Thanks Kate–what a great idea. I think I will try this just as soon as I can get my head above water from all the clothes coming in.
