Inspiration from all over

January 31, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

It’s best to wander the web, or magazines and home decor books, with an open mind. Example:

Check out the room-divider idea, perfect for your consignment shop!

Notice how this long narrow room (just like your shop, perhaps) becomes two with matching open-back shelving and the sturdy plain drapes welcoming a browser into the next area. You can see through it, but it gives a cozy feel that would work well in your resale shop.

Photo plucked from Pinterest… can’t find the original source.

Sure, I loved this photo immediately for its cushy blue-and-white striped couches… but that “room divider” idea is a great one! Most consignment, resale, and thrift shops are long and narrow, and dividing the space not only lessens the bowling-alley feel, but offers the savvy merchandiser areas for vignettes, departments, or categories. The open-back bookcases and the canvas curtain, softening the look, could be just what your shop needs!

You can see more consignment, resale, and thrift store decor ideas on my Pinterest Boards. I add things regularly there, so if you follow me, you’ll have another business-inspiration source from Auntie Kate and Too Good to be Threw!
