Those darn holidays just creep up on us, no matter how well-intended our window-display plans are.

Auntie Kate to the rescue, at least for Valentine’s Day.

Look at this neat idea from a Canadian craft shop!

Where could I find styrofoam like that? Is there a store that would be throwing that away? I want to do this!!! Also, I love the valentine idea!

This is a great idea that I think could be used for other holidays too. Easter eggs, Christmas Trees. Could be fun. Doing my window is the favorite part of owning my shop!
Reading all these ideas just makes my mind work all the time on new things to do. Last night as I was buying valentines for my grandkids, I was trying to figure out what I would do with the rest of the 32 little valentines in a box if I just bought those instead of the expensive cards. And inspiration hit!
I decided to write in the inside of the rest of them – 10% off one item. 15% off one item, 10% off entire purchase or just Happy Valentine’s (this morning I decided that the Happy Valentine cards get a free pair of heart earrings that I had ordered a bunch of and they turned out to be so huge and gaudy I’m almost embarrassed to display them, but since they are getting them for free they get a big kick out of them!) then I folded the cards in half and put them in a pretty little basket decorated for Valentines and before we ring up their purchases, they get to pick one valentine out of the basket and they get whatever is on the valentine. It’s not much, but the ladies get a good chuckle out of it because it’s kind of like buying a lottery ticket! and they feel they’ve gotten something really special. Doing this from the 1st to the 14th. Since we also consign large furniture and for local artist and crafters, we just put a little exclusion at the bottom of the sign that the discounts didn’t apply to those items.
