Some visual stimulation for all my consignment, resale, and thrift shopkeeper friends (and probably some folks who aren’t yet my friends, or aren’t yet shopkeepers):
A slide show of nearly 100 Years of Window Displays just for fun.
An easy-to-use, cheap, stand-out window is pictured. Click to see it larger. Sorry I don’t remember the shop’s name… if it’s yours, claim bragging rights in the comments!

I love this. We have our name painted on one side and seasonal painting on the other. Our windows are mirrored so to use it for display we have to go unconventional. The mirrors provide and awesome 3D effect. Definately an attention getter
Tina, we’d love to see your shop windows… why not email me some pix, or put them on your web site?
Here you go. The windows were done by my bestie Kimberly Camacho and my husband did the front door

Thanks Tina… where have you posted these pix? Would probably be quickest to post on your FB page, then post the URL here….
Kate, took your advice and the window pictures are on our website now….consignitstores.com
Thanks!
[…] What’s in YOUR windows today? […]
I’ll share mine! I just added all my spring flower displays and tissue flowers on the windows with QR codes for a coupon. Spring outfits and bags with pink tissue in bright colors. I have a lot of foot traffic but the windows are tinted so I have to keep the displays light. I get lots of compliments when customers walk in!
Kate, I am stumped with our windows! We consign furniture and have large floor to ceiling windows that face a busy street ~ traffic flying by at 45 mph+
So…. We usually set up a vignette or two in the front windows, facing into the store though, since customers want to sit on or check out the furniture. Then outside on the sidewalk, we arrange smaller items that we can drag in and out each morning, like chairs, nightstands, artwork, and something colorful to grab those driver’s attention.
It works and is fine but I do like the idea of doing something REALLY different.
We’re toying with the idea of adding a long narrow shelf at eye height and lining up colored glass in a rainbow of shades. Or maybe flipping our isles around and making the vignettes face out for a while?
Notice the console table (things on top, under, at sides) as the window display, the aisle, the back of the sofa… I think this may give you some ideas? Since your traffic’s flying by, be sure to use the LARGEST possible items on the console table/ dresser/ sideboard so they can be easily “read” from a distance (meaning NO to the delicate little figurines in this area!) You can also, with the proper pads, layer a small stand on top of the table, building up varying heights for goods…
Also, if you have room, the shelving on either side of the windows… leads to people browsing there, making the windows”come alive” to passers-by.
Big platform window dress forms in green green green with pop of yellow! Flat window I have large bright pink and white tissue paper Pom Poms ( like the ones pictured in your picture today) with fun large lettering of the word consignment. The word really pops !
As of now my windows are showing spring jackets—later this week is will have St. Patrick Day greens. Hoping the green will bring spring soon.
Hi Everyone, I have bright green for St Patricks day with splashl of yellow. consists of clothing , household ceramics and glass
My goodness. 250 people have read this, and not a single person wants to share what’s in their windows? What, is there a plethora of empty windows in the main streets and “shop local” locales? Or are you busy pimping your windows and haven’t time to comment?
Or didn’t that slide show inspire you? Here’s all the posts about display on Auntie Kate: https://auntiekate.wordpress.com/tag/display/ and here’s some ideas I pinned JUST FOR YOU on Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/2good2bthrew/
Still flummoxed over what to show in your windows? Luckily, there’s 3 Products for the Professional Resaler that focus on drawing customers in. Windows that Sell! and Display Ideas from A to Z and SHOW it to SELL it! are all available at the TGtbT.com shop: http://TGtbT.com/shop.htm
Very helpful, I have printed some of the displays and will file them in my staging notebook. As always you are very helpful.
