Bus Tour: Itty Bitty Spaces and How to Use Them

July 11, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Those little rag-tag bits of space in your consignment, resale or thrift shop need to earn their keep… remember, you’re paying for every square foot, so use them all! For example, these photos from shops on the NARTS Conference Bus Tour last month:

Merchandising the space between your dressing rooms

Depending on your price point, the square foot of space shown here could easily generate $20-$50 a day… or, in retail economic terms, $6000 to $18,000 a year. Not counting how much more clothing you’d sell, when there’s a pretty necklace or handbag for your staff to accent her choice with!

.

Merchandising for consignment furniture stores

You aren’t letting that hassock, ottoman, footstool just sit there EMPTY are you?

.

Double-sided window display in a nonprofit consignment thrift store St. Louis

Both sides of the coin: a free-standing wall makes a window display with slatwall facing inward for a perfect mini-swing shop spot!

.
