Website Quiz for Consignment, Resale, Thrift Stores; Is yours doing its job?

August 6, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

We’ve come to the end of our “mini-series” of posts about YOUR web site, and whether it’s doing the best job to

get shoppers into your actual, physical, bricks-&-mortar, REAL consignment, resale, or thrift store.

I hope that the week has been helpful to you.

Here’s all the posts:

  • Why this mini-series is necessary
  • Your Front Door
  • Delving Deeper
  • Will They Do What You Want Them To?
  • Check it Out
  • Spidey Eyes

My heart-felt thanks to these resale shops who volunteered their sites for my “examples”, without knowing whether I’d praise or chastise them! These shopkeepers are the cream of the crop: resalers who extend themselves to help their sisters (and brothers!) in the resale industry. I appreciate your bravery, and I also appreciate being able to freely use your sites while creating this mini-series.

[…] Take a look at some Pinterest links I’ve gathered for you at Your resale shop web site and Ideas for your blog. And if the possibilities for building a relationship with your current and future clients there don’t excite you, see the TGtbT series on what a website can… SHOULD… do for your business. […]

Loved the point about having a printable map & coupon – thanks!

Thanks, Nancy. I actually had that brainstorm when I was in a strange city and wanted to visit several stores. Didn’t know where I was going, or what “landmark” to watch for. “Fountains Center in Forest Grove” just doesn’t cut it to someone from elsewhere 😉

Thanks Kate for including Selective Seconds. We always welcome critique, especially from fellow resale shop owners!

Thank you very much for doing this! We’ve been working on our website and making the suggestions you’ve given. Could you tell us why you ranked the different shops the way you did?

    • on August 7, 2012 at 11:51 am Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw's avatar Auntie Kate

Camille, I didn’t rank the websites at all. I merely used them to illustrate various points during the week-long series. The list here is merely in the order that I received okays from them to take a look and make comments on their sites and perhaps talk a bit about them in public! And I thank YOU, again, for being one of our participants!

Great series! I loved checking out websites I hadn’t visited yet and have been taking suggestions you made to work on our site as well!
