Take off your clothes here.

October 10, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

If you’ re a consignment, resale, or thrift shop, do you know how important your dressing rooms are? After all,

that’s where the buying decisions are made.

But yet, so many dressing rooms are obviously an afterthought. And that’s a shame, because it’s easy, fun, and inexpensive to have dressing rooms/ fitting rooms/ change rooms that will make your business WOM-worthy.

Some inspiration:

Dressing rooms can be inexpensive (click to see larger… that’s unfinished plywood)

Dressing rooms can be cozy

Dressing rooms can be individually colored

Dressing rooms can have individual names

Even dressing room curtains can be a design feature, like the looped ones here…

and here…

And dressing room curtains can even make a complete room, like here.

Ah, if money and space were no concern.

More on dressing rooms:

  • Dressing rooms: that’s where you’re making your money. Or not.
  • The look I love & the attitude I deplore.
  • Among the 5 things your customer won’t tell you is, natch, dressing rooms.
  • I think there’s some more dressing-room inspiration to be had on my Pinterest boards. If there isn’t, you’ll have a good time anyway. Go there.

Thanks to Julia, Kate, A Beautiful Mess, Colleen, and some others whose generosity will be anonymous.

What have you done do to jazz up your dressing rooms? Share, here in the comments:

I used my Cricut cutter to cut out the saying”You look marvelous” and I put it on the wall of my dressing rooms.

Love this idea… trying to jazz up our face book pages… thinking of using this concept to engage our customers. Any other face book suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We are a non-profit quality resale benefiting the YWCA battered women’s shelter in OKC

Hi Cindy, Welcome to my blog! It’s so great to see the non-profits utilizing some ideas here and on Too Good to be Threw. I have a soft spot for NFPs… truly local shopping helping local people!
To gather some tips on using Facebook, use the search box in the upper right. For example, here’s the blog posts that include the word Facebook. Happy reading! I made my dressing rooms a priority after squeezing into other local consignment stores tiny ones. Lots of space one even large enough for moms to take a stroller in. It’s much appreciated by my customers.

Don’t miss my Pinterest boards, where there are more great dressing room examples such as http://pinterest.com/pin/8655424253867423/ which I especially like.
