If you don’t have them handy already, today’s the day to get:

1. A clear, empty ornament
2. What the heck: a fancy, fun pen. Maybe even one for each member of the family. (Besides, they’re good stocking stuffers.)
3. Some paper. Could be scraps of that wrapping paper I told you not to buy, or could be some nice, acid-free paper from an art-supply store, if you want to honor the future. You won’t need much, especially if you write small.
