Found a great article that will help you make decisions about your marketing for your consignment or resale shop.
Read it now and come back here…..
What can we do, based on this article?
53% of internet users are “always” online for non-work purposes after 8pm and 18% of internet users are “always” online before 9am for non-work purposes.
Does that mean it’s important to post “come in and see all we have in our bricks-&-mortar shop” before we open for the day, so those early-bird FB readers will put you on their schedule for the day? Does it mean that, if you sell on-line, your new posts should go up in time for the post-8pm fans?
Thirty-two percent of US online consumers trust a stranger`s opinion on public forums or blogs more than they trust branded advertisements.
Does this mean your blog should have a persona, writing in first person, with definite opinions, rather than using “corporate-speak” on your blog? Example: “I love the mix of patterns in this outfit [room vignette], even if it’s a bit traditional [funky].” Or that you might host “Staff Choices” on your FB or Twitter feeds? “Jenny chose this combination of girly and tough for her Pick of the Week!”

I thought it very interesting, the part about “consumer attention wanes at the three minute mark” (not exact quote). The funniest part about that is my attention started to wane as I read the article…a lot of tech-speak and, well, my attention waned! lol
Great info, though! Thanks for sharing, Kate!
I find my attention span is getting shorter too. Means it takes a LOT of editing to write for the web, as I am sure you know from your blog, Tara!
P.S. I also suspect many office workers are also tapping into these sources during the work day, even though many office policies say not to do so.
All the more important to reach them at 9 am… so they come shopping on their lunch hour!
Great food for thought, Kate–thanks for sharing this. I’ve been trying to blog after work and before the shop opens, not so successfully. This gives me a shove to set time aside a.m. and p.m to post.
Doris, you can schedule your blog posts to come out whenever you want to. Ditto posts on your business FB page (not on your personal page though)… and if your blog is linked to FB and Twitter, theses posts will come out anywhere from 1 minute to one hour later. You don’t REALLY think I sit at my computer 24/7, do you? It just looks that way!
