Cutest, most-local customer holiday gift ever!

November 18, 2013 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

During the holidays, the best consignment, resale and thrift shops always have on hand some “customer gifts” to hand out to favorite clients. Here’s the cutest one I’ve seen in ages:

Consignment customer gift idea from TGtbT.comIt’s a home-made, DIY potpourri kit!

Package up one orange, a small handful of fresh cranberries, 1 Tbs whole cloves, 3 sticks cinnamon, and a bit of grated nutmeg. Print up some instructions: “Quarter the orange, place all in a small saucepan filled with water and simmer on lowest setting. Refill water as needed.” and, of course, add your holiday wishes and your shop logo to the tag!

I guarantee, no other shop in town will give your customers such a sweet and imaginative gift (well, unless your competition reads Auntie Kate, too!)

The packaging inspiration is from here. And the recipe for the potpourri kit is here.

Love this idea! Thanks a million, as usual.

The BEST part of this gift, Marilyn? The word of mouth! Most of your recipients, when complimented on the lovely perfume of their home, will drag out the little gift card with your shop name on it for their guests to see… which leads to a nice discussion on how WONDERFUL! your shop is. Word of mouth (word-of-nose?)… gotta love it!

Love it! My hot chocolate mix and candy cane gift was getting a little tired. Thank you!

Although one cannot go wrong with chocolate and mint, in my opinion, Bonnie! But having something “new” is always fun, isn’t it?
