Resale Bus Tour, Part II »

Grab a Seat on the Resale Bus Tour

June 29, 2017 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

One of the most fun parts of NARTS Conference is always the Resale Bus Tour, where we descend en masse at willing NARTS member shops, poking into back rooms, eating cupcakes, asking questions and shopping!

Come sit on my shoulder while

I tell you a few thoughts running through my head during the 2017 Tour:

First stop, for our bus (there were 5 busloads this year!), was Wabi Sabi in Wayzata, where we were hosted by Kay Fradsen and her wonderful crew. Pictures? Sure! (Click any to enlarge.)

In case their visitors are unclear on the concept, the shop’s front counter explains what wabi sabi means…

What is Wabi Sabi? This consignment shop tells you gladly on TGtbT.blog!

The shop’s marketing is stupendous. For example, to answer shoppers’ questions about the variety of pricing and quality, they had this banner made, comparing various furniture brands to more-easily-understood car brands! Brain-storm, huh?!

The variety of brands carried in this shop, as explained with car examples! TGtbT.com loves this!
Some visuals of things we’ve always talked about on Too Good to be Threw: First, ALWAYS be open to those who might be great employees.

Always on the lookout for good staff!

Next, be alert to your customers’ needs…

Now THAT's customer service, says TGtbT.com

Two lessons here: First, using a label gun to add the consignor account number in case the price tag is lost or switched. Second, see how clever they are about using the backing of the sticky tag so the sales clerk doesn’t need a daily manicure?

Lessons learned from lost tags in a consignment shop!

And the most valuable thing to remember as a shopkeeper? Keep ’em laughing!

When you have to tell them something they may not want to hear... do it in a fun way.

Visit Wabi Sabi’s web site.

We’ve visiting more shops on tomorrow’s blog post, so tune in (you can receive an email when a new post is added to our blog by adding your email up there in the right column (or scroll down if you’re on another device…)
