Celebrate the end (?) of winter in your consignment shop

March 7, 2019 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Resalers need to be financially and marketing-wise, smart about their in-store promotions.

Giving away small but memorable favors is smart in both ways: it costs your shop less than cutting selling prices with a coupon or store-wide discount, and a clever, branded favor is much more word-of-mouth worthy, all-important in this day and age of social media.

Here’s two ideas for a

“Please Spring Get Here Soon”

promotional event you could have… maybe you’d better prepare both, so you can gift folks with whichever suits the weather on the day of!

Making water-bottle labels with your logo on them is so simple your kids/ spouse/ staffer can do it, leaving you time to organize the rest of your event and publicize it (how? See Resale’s BEST Promotions for info, planning sheets, and checklists that’ll have it all done in record time!)

Choice #2 for your customer gift during your event? Carrots. See how/why. More details here from our consumer-oriented blog archives.

Our small community is working on getting rid of single use plastics in our community, including water bottles. So, we might use this idea but put the labels on travel cups, glasses or mugs that have expired consignments. That way we can show our support for the plastic free campaign while having the end of winter event, too. There’s always a way to reframe to help showcase our store.

How about making up tie-on tags for beverage containers that say “Perfect for MELTED snow!” or “Insert melted snow here>> “? That would be a fun way to use the idea… if the tags are cute enough, they’ll even make a glass or mug into a gag gift for folks to buy for office-mates, etc.
