Our Flamingoettes received their consignment / resale goodie bags plus educational materials with glee and promptly promised to write thank-you emails to the contributing vendors, but just in CASE they forget, my personal thanks to participating resale marketeers for making a festive occasion:
In addition, two shops and a personal friend donated to our event.
Robin Cain of Kid’s Corner in NC
Cynthia and Leslie of The White Elephant in Virginia
Blaize Clement, Siesta Key mystery writer
Then we shopped. Oh how we shopped. Gloomy day, thank goodness (it’s REALLY hard to get Northerners off Siesta Beach when it’s sunny!) We visited 7 consignment or resale shops, several thrift stores, and O’Leary’s Pub on the waterfront in downtown Sarasota. Oh, and for a mid-morning pick-me-up (shopping takes it OUT of you) we got a Heavenly Cupcake. Well, all of us except Nicky whose Daddy told her she was so tight she squeaks when she walks…she couldn’t see $2.50 for like the MOST heavenly cupcake. And I think you can probably figure…she’s part of the Thinner Contingent in the Flamingoette Corps.
As one of the Flamingoettes said: Good thing we went visiting all these different shops today, because tomorrow, in our Roundtable discussions? We’ll have a lot to talk about!
Next up, Fiesta Night on Siesta! I cannot WAIT to see what Carolyn has up her metaphorical sleeve…since I found the 3-foot sombrero for her, I’ve been DYING to know! See ya later…gotta shower and change into my PAR-TEE attire!
You girls had WAY to much fun to call it business!
I’m glad I got to be along, even if it was only via a book.
