No, I’m not talking about the perils of airplane travel over the holidays…

but the cost to trying to run your consignment or resale shop with less than optimal knowledge.

I’ve noticed a lot of already-in-business (some for many years!) shops stocking up now on a variety of Products for the Professional Resaler and the manual. I’ve even received orders from spouses who plan to give them as Christmas gifts! (One husband wrote: Hope it’s here in time to go under the tree! She works so hard…I want to help her work SMART so we can have more time together. )

In easy times, it’s easy to make a reasonable living.

People shop in your shop. People shop too much, and value their excess so little that they consign or sell or donate at a whim. It’s easy to survive when living is easy.

But let living get a little closer to the grain, and a shopkeeper’s skills are tested.

I’m so proud of shopkeepers who realize that, before things get any harder, they’d better brush up on the skills available to them in the TGtbT Shop. And I know they’ll profit…’cause when times get tough, it’s time to run your secondhand shop like a pro!
