hen I was a tot, we celebrated May Day. We made little mini-baskets out of woven construction paper, put a few spring blossoms and a loving note in them, and hung them on friend’s door knobs early in the morning (or put them on their stoops if we didn’t get up early enough to claim the coveted door knob spot).
Such a nice tradition…
I even remember some Maypoles in my childhood.
Does anyone do May Day any more or are we too bust Twittering Tweeting Facebooking to notice the wonderful entry of May into our lives?
Well then, let me be the first (only?) person to wish you a Happy May Day. Enjoy these beautiful spring days.
Stoop. That’s a nice word too. Anyone use that anymore?

the only May Day I have is May Day ,May Day, too much incoming, Heeelpp!
May Day was a big part of my life till about adolescence (which in retrospect should have been the most important time), I loved trying to get it up on the front porch without being seen. We always made something in elem school to take home for May Day as well.
Thanks for bringing up a good memory and will be planning for next year with the kiddos. It’s just what they need.
