Buy your shop a merry little Christmas!

November 27, 2009 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

What's on YOUR consignment shop's wish list?Everyone loves holiday gifts. . . even your shop!

Now that you’ve finished your holiday shopping, find some gifts for your beloved shop. The better your shop looks and functions, the more money you’ll make to spend on…your loved ones NEXT holiday (or that trip to Fiji, whichever comes first…)

Here’s some suggestions for your wish list for that Santa in your life to make your business profitable and more pleasant.

A coffee pot, pretty cups, and a few pounds of good coffee saves time and money, and fills your shop with a nice scent.

Fresh desk accessories will brighten your day and make your counter look better to your clientele. A new pen cup filled with colorful pens; colorful stapler, organizer box and scissors; fresh file folders. And order new decals from your credit-card supplier to replace those dog-eared ones. Please.

Do customers complain that you don’t have a three-way mirror but you don’t have the space or money for one? Buy nice, large hand-held vanity mirrors. Trim with flowers and ribbon and hang them in each room. A nice touch: make small labels on your computer for the mirror side saying “I’m looking good at [your shop name]!”

Scour your thrift-store peers for pedestaled platters, cake stands, and the like. Great for adding height to a jewelry-case display, a table-top assortment in your swing shop or your display window.

Dressing room kimonos are a nice touch, allowing customers to come back out to look for more. Buy simple wrap robes and hang on a lingerie hanger in each room. To turn your customer into a walking ad, put your shop name on the back.

Order fold-over notes and envelopes with your shop logo on them. Use for thank-you notes or news to customers to polish your reputation..

Splurge and buy the right hangers for your shop. They go a long way into making your shop look better and adding perceived value. Adjustable functional shelving is a true profit-booster if you deal in home decor.

Let your Santa go play golf...you can afford a real paint job with your Products for the Prodfessional Resaler from Too Good to be ThrewIf Santa really loves you, he’ll put an IOU in your stocking good for a new paint job over the slow Christmas-to-New-Year’s week. Or better still, an IOU for your choice of TGtbT’s Products for the Professional Resaler. With what you learn from TGtbT you’ll be able to afford to hire a painter and let your Santa go play golf.
