How cool is THIS? Wonder how resalers could adapt…

December 6, 2009 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Engagement ring beer coaster

This is a beer coaster. Really. From Colonial Jewelers in Frederick MD.

After all, guys aren’t gonna bring up the subject of buying an engagement ring with their buddies without a little prompting. This gets a conversation started, in a place where potential customers congregate.

Consider it

Reinforced Word-of-Mouth.

Sometimes, ya gotta prime the pump of discussion.

How could this idea be used for resale and consignment shops?

Maybe: a table-tent sign in local cafes, chic lunch-with-the-ladies spots, saying something like Don’t Love that Designer Handbag as much as you thought you would? or Tired of your Closet? Come visit ours.

Maybe: A poster (with attached “Take-One” Reminders) at the local children’s activity spot…roller rink, gymnastics joint, wherever moms congregate.. saying Stop Growing Darn It! with info on shopping at your kidswear resale shop, or “trading” outgrown for next size up.

Maybe: In the program for the Designer Showcase Tour of Homes, an ad saying Want to Look as Good? with info on your home decor/furniture consignment shop.

As Andy Sernovitz says…

Conversations help make the sale, and smart marketers are always looking for ways to help start them.
