What are you proudest of having done in ’09?

ReSell RePlace ReJoice…and let them KNOW you do!

Forget the New Year’s Resolutions for a moment. Don’t beat yourself up with stuff you know you NEED to do.

Instead, indulge yourself today and think about how great you are and how far you’ve already come.

Go ahead, think about what you are proud to have accomplished in your consignment or resale shop last year.

Good for you! Have you let your marketplace’s consumers know about it? Although that in itself, communicating with potential customers, might be your proudest feat! A lot of you have utilized the Twitter and Facebook world this year, including me.

Has your feat been a journey worthy of passing on to your peers? Let us know. We LOVE success stories from the biggest to the smallest, toughest to most gee why didn’t I think of that?

So tell us, what wonderful thing did you do, business-wise, last year? Why was it successful and in what way? What would you warn us against doing? And how do you plan on building on or expanding your success in 2010?

Go ahead: Be PROUD and be LOUD. It’s just us resale fans here, sitting on the bleachers. Brag. Strut. Show off your stuff. We encourage justifiable pride on this, the first day of the New Year.

Wow, you’ve certainly used the past year to advantage! Congratulations. You’ve done your shop proud.

And yes, I grant you a nice long weekend to relax. As soon as you’ve become a Sponsor at http://www.HowToConsign.com so all those visitors to our consumer-education site, once they get fired up to shop and supply, can look YOUR business up. (And so I can figure out just where you are too!)

I am proud that I got more involved with my local chamber of commerce and numerous networking groups. I’ve met a lot of new friends and gained new customers in the process. Other accomplishments include hosting quarterly Girl’s Nights Out, participating in fashion shows, hosting a pet food drive, sending out professional email newsletters on a regular basis, initiating frequent shopper cards, exploring new avenues for purchasing jewelry and accessories at wholesale pricing, going to NYC to purchase costume jewelry in the wholesale district, inviting a wardrobe consultant to come to the store and host a fashion workshop, and conversing more with other shop owners so that we may share ideas. Wow! I’ve been busy! One of the best things I did to increase sales was to take a good hard look at where my advertising dollars were being spent and try and decrease my expenses. I decided to try a direct mail campaign by advertising in a coupon book and that has been working far better than any newspaper advertisements I have tried. I also changed the floor plan of my store during the Christmas holidays and my regular customers absolutely love the new look. Now can I please take a long weekend to relax? Doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon as I just registered to attend a trade show next weekend. I’ve learned that you have to keep trying new things to succeed (or just survive) in these tough economic times.

Hi, I am proudest that I did not let fear get in the way of making my dream come true. I and my partner forged ahead, despite the “gloom and doom” of the present economy, and are opening our store on january 7, 2010. We know we are going to make it a great success. We can feel it in our bones.

I am proud of the fact that I have nearly doubled my store income from the year before (I have only been open 2.5 years). I attribute much of my success to learning ALOT from Kate Holmes who provides so much great guidance and advice. I also feel that being a member of NARTS has been invaluable with the opportunity to learn from them thru their fabulous yearly conferences and newsletters. I would not be where I am without those two great resources.

I’m proud of the fact that I opened the store of my dreams, and it has had very nice response from people.

My plan for 2010 is to figure out how to make a profit.

This year I am proud that I grew my store from 1300 square feet to 2400 square feet and I might be moving to an even bigger space now! I’m up in sales by a monumental amount and to me, the sky’s the limit in 2010. Thanks Kate for the website, encouragement and information that you provide on a daily basis. Although I mainly am a lurker, maybe I will get my courage up to post some more on TGTBT and “share” like we’re supposed to be doing.
