Things you can learn from First Ladies

February 7, 2010 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Maybe there’s a harder job than consignment shopkeeper or resaler. (Though personally, I doubt it.) If so, these ladies might have had it.

I think these first ladies had it right. When my partner and I were contemplating opening our store, everything seemed to fall into place, like it was our destiny. But when we think of it, we were meeting almost everyday at a coffee house or restaurant to discuss, plan, and implement our ideas. We did not rely on luck, but prepared ourselves to be available when opportunities came along for us to pick up a jewelry counter for $25, and clothes racks for $10. Though we opened in the dead of winter, and the days have been slow, we are 100 percent certain that we did the right thing, and that we are going to be successful.
