Recycled store display fixtures are the bomb!

Can of paint turns a tacky dummy into a work of word-of-mouth art!

A recycled collection of reusable display and store fixture ideas

Okay all you consignment, resale, and thrift shops. Are you using recycled display fixtures to remain true to the cause?

Some ideas I spotted.

Sometimes, they walk in your front door.

Sometimes they dance down the middle of your shop.

And sometimes, it takes a little imagination.

We have a friend whose dad owned a ‘toggery’ in the early fifties. He brought us an old wooden tie rack from his dad’s store. Kenny painted it, and we use it to display handbags.

We needed mirrors for our dressing rooms and for placing around the store. I was walking through Home Depot when I spotted one of my favorite words, “CLEARANCE.”

Suddenly I was standing before 6 foot high by 2 feet wide beveled mirrors framed in white embossed wood. Only these weren’t “normal” mirrors, they were sliding closet doors! Looking closely I saw that there was some paint over spray from the frames on parts of the mirror, something that could easily be removed. These perfect-for-our-store mirrors normally sold for close to $300 a pair. I got them at a clearance price of $72 a pair. That’s $36 for a beveled, painted and embossed framed 6 foot mirror. And they are stronger than normal mirrors because they were designed to be closet doors.

So keep your eyes open no matter where you are!
