This week I will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of opening my consignment shop.
THIRTY-FIVE years! That means (oh lordy) that the grandchildren of the children who were outfitted by one more time back in 1975…are now FOURTH-GENERATION resale fans.
Stunning. Un-believable. I wonder how much landfill space, water pollution, carbon footprints my little shop has saved over the years?
If you too aspire to spend the best years of your life helping the world recycle, read on.
omt’s start. (also, the most popular message, by far, here on Auntie Kate the Blog.)
The recipe which made me famous in Grandview Heights, Marble Cliff and Upper Arlington, for 15 minutes.
omt today, under the loving ownership of my past manager, who bought it when she was the age I was when I started one more time (lower-case names were all the rage then.)
What other milestones I’ve marked in this incredible industry. Oh, and I killed off a friend of my consignment shop and had a great time doing so.
One of the wisest things ever said to me about my business (Thanks Ted!)
All this coming week, we’ll be giving presents away. And yes, there will be ways for you to give a present to me if you would like.
UPDATE 10-1-10: The questions and the comments you added:
Give us a tip you’ve used to make your shop shimmer with excitement
How have you improved the visibility and public perception not only of your own shop, but of our industry in general?
What do you foresee for your business 5 years from now?
Do you really think price is the #1 reason people buy from you?

Congratulations Kate! Thirty-five years is certainly a long time. And not only have you helped save things from the landfills, and saved people lots of money, just think of all the shopkeepers you’ve helped get started or build their businesses to success! Thank you, and Happy Anniversary.
Congrats Kate! I loved reading the posts about how you started and the “If you want to wear silk” thing. Sometimes I dream about owning a fancier store but when it comes down to it, polyester is where it’s at!
