Where am I again? A shop-name reinforcement…

February 12, 2011 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Of course, for a window display backdrop, the lettering would be near the topIt’s always a good idea to remind customers just where they are. After all, you want them to have your shop name firmly in mind when they tell all their friends how great your consignment, thrift, or resale shop is, right?

Well, here’s a sophisticated, subtle way to reinforce your name.

I must admit, I am a sucker for store-improvement ideas…even though I am not known for my exacting artistic skills. But here’s

one I think even I could do.

So certainly our multi-talented shopkeepers could!

It involves sheer (but not too lightweight) readymade curtains, fusible fabric webbing, and a secondary fabric for the letters. In this illustration, it’s a curtain for a window on a home door…but I can TOTALLY see this as a window display backdrop that reinforces your shop name in a classy, upscale sort of way.

Can’t you?

Sheer backdrops for open-backed display windows are perfect: they help isolate your display and still allow a glimpse into your shop. Of course, your shop name would be near the top of the backdrop so it can be seen above your wonderful merchandise.

Not confident enough to trace letters (or your logo?) Try it first with simple shapes, such as a blossom for springtime, leaves for a fall window. Trace those shapes from any  coloring book available online.

[…] And this idea I really liked involves curtains. […]
