Many a consignment, resale, and thrift shop uses glass showcases to display jewelry, small knick-knacks, and pricey goods. But alas, many forget the first syllable:
“Show”
So, today, a showcase (groan pun) of showcases especially chosen to be applicable to resale:

Jewelry display cases can be a real snooze...but they don't have to be. This looks like a photo for insurance purposes, not a tempting array of pretty things.

Notice how the varied backdrops frame and highlight smaller selections making it easier to truly see each great piece!

Even cases which mix home decor and jewelry can be a real snooze. The regimented parade here looks, to me, more like a pawn shop than a home-decor inspiration.
Keys to making your showcases really showy:
- Vary heights. This is the quickest and easiest thing to do.
- Use colorful and/or textured underlays to separate, highlight, brighten up. Change out as needed: burlap to ground brass, chartreuse chiffon to perk up black-and-white.
- Arranging stuff Rule #1: The spaces in-between should be narrower than the pieces displayed, otherwise the blank spaces seem as important as the merchandise.
- Rule #2 Overlap objects. Keep the eye amused.
- Not everything has to be dead-on square. Angle items to “lead” onlookers from one treasure to another.
Love this! Can’t wait to put it into action.
