Selling is a SERIES of ongoing opportunities.

March 16, 2011 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Selling is a series of ongoing opportunities.

The art of selling is guiding your customer through those opportunities and allowing her to take advantage of them. Selling is not manipulating a customer to buy from you. As a salesperson, you are not trying to “sell the customer something”: you’re helping your customer buy it! If you have forced someone into buying something she doesn’t want or need, you have not sold, you have coerced. And a coerced shopper is not one who will remember your shop fondly.

Selling MORE is the key to profitsSelling is a service. Selling, properly performed, has a value above and beyond simply calling a shopper’s attention to a product and ringing the sale up. Selling is a service with true value. Your selling technique can add value to any item you sell, providing you know how.

In addition, learning how to sell will let you see a decrease in any work-related stress you have.

If you know your job well, and realize that it is a valuable service to the consumer you are working with, you will enjoy your work more and get more satisfaction from it.
