“What’s the name of that shop I love?”

June 16, 2011 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

It never hurts to get your shop name in front of your fans again and again. For example:
Subliminal message on mirror!

Missed it? Here’s a close-up:

Consignment shop adds their logo right where a customer will see it
After all, what spot in your shop is more perfect for a reinforcement of just where they are… than right in FRONT of them?

Thanks to Second Glance in New Jersey for this great idea and photo.

Hey Jenni, thanks… but did you just tell us you said NO to 100 people? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well, you KNOW what I would say:
    # Is the item replaceable? If not by the exact duplicate, something that serves the same purpose?
    # Would it be a good move, loyalty/ WOM-wise… to sell the darn thing? I mean, she asks the price ’cause she wants it! So you’re telling her “forget it” when she wants to buy it?
    # I can’t find right now where I wrote on this here on the blog or on Sharing or maybe in the Products for the Professional Resaler… but for HEAVEN’s sake, put a price tag on things. Even if the tag reads “We REALLY enjoy owning this here at MyShop… but if you are determined to take it home, the price is $X”… X being enough for you to replace it, money, time, treasure-hunt-wise.

Now if it’s not replaceable, or if it means more than any amount of money could replace, then sure, put a price tag with NO price on it, one that will bring a smile to their lips: “I love this gilt mirror that my late mother-in-law left me. It’s priceless to me. It IS beautiful isn’t it? If you’d like me to keep an eye out for something similar, let me know. And may I say YOU HAVE EXCELLENT TASTE.”

You know what else it does? Stops customers from trying to buy your displays, lol. We have to nail down and label anything we don’t want to sell, which is a good thing I guess, since it means people want to buy every last thing!

Instead of “display only”or “not for sale”, putting your store name on it does the same things but much more nicely.

I have a store toy, a bamboo xylophone that kids can play with while mom is shopping and after being asked where the price tag is about 100 times, I finally thought to label it with a sharpie, Better Than New Toy ~ Please PLAY ME ๐Ÿ™‚
