Consignment clutter can be GOOD.

October 14, 2011 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Taking photos of your resale, thrift or consignment shop requires a bit of attention, don’t you agree? You want to show your merchandise in its best light, and you’re proud of all the variety in your offerings.

So make a little clutter.

Go ahead. Here’s two pictures from What a Find! in Bradenton Florida that shows what a good thing clutter can be:

Too Good to be Threw's example of "good" clutter in a consignment shop photo.
Notice how carefully the colors and shapes are arranged. There’s a great variety here, but it looks exciting rather than mish-mash. Even though there’s tables under tables and throw pillows on the floor, this looks exciting, not cluttered.

In both photos, things are tucked under things and angled rather than lined up in a row. Also, while some are visible, the price tags are not so numerous as to be distracting.

The point? Stage your photos!

Lest something like this gets seen on your web site or Facebook album:This resale shop's photo could have been SO much betterThe photo above could have been so much more enticing with a little staging. As it is, it’s barren and boring… which I am sure the shop wasn’t!
