A free day coming up: are you ready?

January 6, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Walt Disney World. I'm sure somebody owns the copyright for this photo, but I don't know who.Wow, it’s 2012! You know what THAT means…

No, it doesn’t mean the world will end “according to the Mayans.”

It means: It’s a Leap Year, and we get an extra FREE day, a February 29: Great news for .

those who keep their eye on last year’s financials.

What will you do in your shop to celebrate? Disney will be open 24 hours that day. Probably not something for your clientele, but what would be an attention-getting event? What could you do as a promotion that would get WOM for your business? Share your thoughts by commenting below…

PS February 29 falls on a Wednesday, which is also Hump Day. Get you thinking? Anyone’s community big on Sadie Hawkins Day? What will you do to

take advantage of this once-every-4-years opportunity?

.

Our consignment kids clothing shop also carries an extensive line of NEW toys. We have emailed and facebooked that we are offering 29% off all toys sold on 2/29/12. Plus we’re staying open an extra hour so working moms can get the discount, too.

I haven’t come up with anything quite yet–BUT–one of my employees, who is a huge Disney fan, is actually going to Disneyland for the entire 24 hours they’re open that day!! Maybe we could do something to play up her trip to Disney. Have to get my thinking cap on.

I might contact my colleagues in resale here in Dallas and have a joint promotion. The day offers a “bonus” of time just like resale offers a bonus of savings and style. Perhaps rewards for those who visit three stores.

Thanks Irene, good thought: linking the “bonus” day with “bonus savings”! And doing a joint promo is always good, if you have same-marketplace stores you respect and work with, for WOM and free publicity (say, the participants could all add up total “visits” that day and use yesterday‘s blog idea, too!)!
