Where’s your takeaway window?

January 30, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Create a tasty takeaway for your resale, thrift or consignment shopI once visited a consignment shop which actually had a takeaway window… well, a “bring in” window: consignors drove up under a covered area and a shop staffer was right there, rolling rack at the ready. Now that’s service… something special worth telling your friends about!

Chances are, you aren’t ready to knock a hole into your side wall,

but do you have some sort of takeaway… something “tasty” that a customer can take away with her, and so interesting she’ll share it with friends, work mates and neighbors? If not, you’re missing an exciting way to spread the word about your shop.

The simplest, and most effective, and cheapest takeaway

is information. Maybe a calendar of local events. Inexpensive places to take the kids. A handout about decorating on a dime. In other words, something your target customer can really use, not just read and toss. With your shop name on it for her and her friends to see over and over again.

What to give away? Focus on who they are and what information they would want to keep around, pass around, post on the office bulletin board. Design your handout so that it reflects well on your shop. Print it up on nice paper, and you’re good to go. A lot more original, and a lot more talk-worthy, than an imprinted pen or emery board. Something that will make your shop stand out in the Sea of Resale Sameness.

What, you say? Where will you find the time to do this?

Well, luckily, for those whose lives cannot stretch one more tasks-worth, you can get resale-specific Customer Service Brochure ideas at Too Good to be Threw. Use these 9 brochures as-is, simply pasting your shop information in the designated spots, or use the layouts as inspiration for your own innate creativity. We’ve done the work for you, so you can relax, enjoy your free time… and still have a takeaway that’ll have them giving

the best kind of word-of-mouth about your shop!
