Oh no! I lost all my files!

April 20, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Did you lose your files?

Frantic email.

“I didn’t back up my TGtbT.com Products, and my computer’s toast, and now I don’t have them!”

Wow. It’s bad enough to lose pix of your nephew’s wedding, but to lose Auntie Kate’s advice! No wonder the consignment shop owner was frantic.

So here’s your next task, if you don’t already do this with every Too Good to be Threw PDQ Product for the Professional Resaler:

1-  Open the PDQ files attached to your email when you receive them. Flip through them just to make sure they’re fine.Buying Outright for Resale Shops

2- Copy them to a specific file where you’ll keep all the info crucial to your resale, thrift, consignment success.

3- BACK THEM UP RIGHT NOW. Use whatever method is comfortable for you: an external hard drive, a thumb drive that is kept somewhere safe, or online i-cloud stashing like Dropbox. You can also forward the email with the attachments to another machine such as your computer at home or your spouse’s.

4- Put the original email, with its attachments, in an email file. If you use a web-based email like Yahoo or Google, they’ll always be there for you in your email client, even if you’re on another computer.Window display ideas especially for consignment, resale, thrift shops

5- Finally, as an extra added precaution, print your PDQs out. That way, you can have them handy for reference and share them with staff members. (Yeh, I know, not ecofriendly. But hey, advice to build your eco-friendly biz is worthy of some recycled paper, right?)
