Adding $6000 to her local economy: and that’s JUST the top 12 consignors!

April 25, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Some of you may have made the acquaintance of the lovely, warm Sharon Munroe of Little Green Beans in Austin TX, a HowToConsign.com sponsor, at last year’s NARTS Conference.

HowToConsign.com Sponsor on the news

Click to see Sharon in action!

She’s had a wonderful news segment. Click the photo to go to the video. Notice how she uses some numbers to motivate folks to “Clean their Cluttered Closets for Cash“, HTC’s tagline! After all, this TV interview was all about Earth Day and recycling!

Sharon’s shop was also used in this Dadlabs video, and she got a store exterior shot… great partnering, Sharon.

When you visit Little Green Beans, you’ll see she’s added the video to her site… plus there’s some wonderful videos, including a panoramic Google photo tour of Little Green Beans. Maybe Sharon can tell us how to do that!

Alas, Sharon’s told me she’s just too busy (and too Mommy-y!)  to make this year’s NARTS Conference… but I’m sure she’d like to hear some accolades here on AuntieKate the bBlog!

    Sharon,

I think your store looks beautiful and your website video is both welcoming and informative. Great job!

I had a business at lunch table at our local chamber luncheon this past month and was able to talk a little bit about my shop. One of the things I told the audience was that in the three years we have been in business we have been able to payout to our consignors over $65,000! Boy did that get a gasp from the crowd! I was also asked to do a brief Q & A for a local business magazine and made sure to include that little tidbit there as well!

Good on ya, Connie! Having figures like that available on the tip of your tongue is great for polishing your business image. Other possibilities: how many people-power hours /month your shop contributes to the employment picture of your community, $$ reinvested locally (that’s everything from leasehold expenses to what you pay out to the public to what you and your staffers spend at the grocery etc). I love to spout financial figures like this to the suits who snarkily ask how “your little shop is surviving”…

Thanks! What a fun thing… wonder how much it runs, approx?

Thanks for sharing this with other professional resalers, Auntie Kate! The Google photo shoot was free as they were seeking to partner with local retailers. Find and ask your local Google representative (some cities have them).
