“Shopping Calendar Gets a School Day” sez NYTimes

Teen Vogue organizes Back to School shopping day

Hey, great news. How can your consignment, resale, or thrift shop use this attention to build awareness of your Back to School selection and savings?

I’m betting you can use the attention stirred up by Teen Vogue to really do something great in your shop. What will it be?

Back-to-School Saturday will be promoted in the typically enthusiastic Teen Vogue tone of voice. For instance, ads and posters will exhort, “Get ready, get set, get shopping!” And social media will, of course, play a big role; Teen Vogue has already called dibs on a hashtag, #btss.

Our kids go back to school around the 20th of August so Aug 11th is way to late to promote here. Our shoppers start in July and so do we. We plan to start promoting in July for bts but we will try to use some of that to help us.

Hi Elizabeth, I have full faith that you can find some value in the ideas developed there, even if you do have to do some creative “REinvention”! Best wishes on a successful BTS this year!

Why not have a National Resale Back to School Shopping Day on August 4th, beating the new retailers by a week? Promote real savings without fighting the crowds. We could get together and all offer things like Vogue is doing.
