The brightest “Kloset” I’ve seen!

September 19, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Had a great visit to a fun, Florida-bright shop recently, Kay’s Kloset in Punta Gorda FL. Let me take you on a photo tour (all photos can be clicked to be seen in a larger format):

Entrance to this consignment shop visited by TGtbT.comPunta Gorda FL was hit by a horrendous hurricane, so all new construction is raised above possible flood levels. In this shopping center, that means ramps… the main one of which sends all shoppers directly to the front door of Kay’s Kloset. By the way, the landlord searched Kay out, because he wanted the traffic Kay’s would bring to his center!

Kay's Kloset's award! No doubt about whether they’re open… and they won best of their county, too!

The staff of Kay's KlosetBonnie’s the blonde part-timer, and Kay’s the friendly owner of Kay’s Kloset, there to greet us in the colorful, bright, and spanking-clean womenswear shop. Kay is active in her local Chamber of Commerce, does fashion shows throughout the community, and was honored by Soma for collecting 800+ bras during a recent charity event!

Focal areaJust to the right of the entry, this special area highlights jewelry, accessories, and a new-arrivals selection. To the left of the entry is a sitting area, where Kay is proud to present her consignment/ resale peers’ business cards.

Using every inch!Every corner is bright and cheerful and filled with immaculate clothing in all sizes.

Sales floor is cheerful and organizedOther than the wall racks, most of the sales floor is filled with 4-way racks, organized by category. Don’t you love the ribbon-hung category signs with a sense of humor!

Above-rack displaysAccessories are carefully displayed over the wall racks. No wasted “decorations” in this shop!Colorful dressing roomsThree colorful dressing rooms… plus a galley kitchen for after-hours wine and cheese event, and best of all…

Arrivals and departuresA back room that’s airy, bright, and accessible to Kay’s 3 appointments per day. A friend who works at the airport made the sign for Kay!

Colorful scatter rugsHere’s an overview. The colorful area rugs “disguise” the dull commercial carpeting, don’t they?

My consignment shop finds!Love this touch! The credit card receipts are hard to sign, so Kay’s found a colorful mini clipboard to present them on! (Yes, that’s my purchase there… love that bag!)

The damages: Noel, chauffeur-stepsister-shopper extraordinaire found a skirt, the dress you see above, and THREE pairs of shoes for around $75. I found two handbags and love them both. Thanks, Kay and Bonnie, for your hospitality, and the place you recommended for lunch? Yummy!

Tomorrow, tours of two furniture/ home decor shops in Punta Gorda, with thanks to Penny at The Treasure Chest and manager Leah at Funkie Junkies. Don’t miss it!

Thanks, Della, I’m sure that Kay and her helpers are pleased to get the rave review! I’m sure that you mention Kay’s Kloset often to your clients, both for cleaning-their-closets reasons and as an example of the vibrant shop-local, shop-small scene in your community.
