Social media phenomenon becomes a consignment / resale shop event!

October 5, 2012 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Button leggings: what a cool "Pinterest Party" possibility for your consignment, resale, thrift shop!!!The hottest social media now is Pinterest. Would it not be cool to have a

“Pinterest Party” in your shop?

Issue invites (“you plus a friend are invited…”) via social media, broadcast email, in-store and on your blog, and of course, on Pinterest!, make it a “potluck bringing your fav Pinterest nibble” and spend the evening making 2-3 Pinterest crafts… something to do with your merchandise, natch, like these denim beads (minus the paint…plus other fabric strips you have ready to go) or any button craft (gather up your lost-button box, have your invitees bring buttons, ask your donors/ suppliers for same starting TODAY, or go find piles at your neighboring thrift peer!)

Good timing for this would be the

first or second week in November,

before everyone gets hyper about the holidays. And what perfect timing to reinforce that holidays are better with resale, considering that

It’s the thought that counts, not the waste.

(That’s the motto of 50 Days & 50 Ways to have a Merry Recycled Holiday our 50 reasons for YOUR clientele to use resale for a merry and eco-friendly holiday season.)

So: You get to find new friends via Pinterest, you get to have a fun evening building customer loyalty, and you end up with new customers, new potential holiday gifts, and one TON of goodwill. Hey, and nibbles too? I am SO there.

Think this would be workable for your consignment, resale or thrift? Why, or why not? Or maybe this idea has you thinking about your own unique twist? Join the conversation, below!
