Preparing to KEEP your consignment shop’s New Year’s Resolution

January 2, 2013 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

collage with young beauty woman in the shopLove to look back on the past year, and when I do it here on Auntie Kate the Blog, I can really see what interests… and what scares… consignment, resale and thrift shopkeepers the most. For example…

The most commented-upon blog entry in 2012 was this one, about a shop which stopped taking fall and winter items on (or even before!) August 23.

And from my personal emails I have received from shopkeepers, that’s what they dread the most:

“running out of room.”

Seems a lot of shops have adopted this as their New Year’s Resolution:

Find a way to always have room for wonderful new incoming items!

So, before your shop runs out of room for spring or fall season,  here are some Products for the Professional Resaler you might want to read or reread:

Shop Sizzle Many shopkeepers already have this, since it is part of the Beginner’s Luck Package Deal when they bought the Manual. It’s got 10 sections, and helps your shop showcase and sell from corner to corner (with some ceiling-selling thrown in as well!)

The Essential Guide to Using ALL your Space  Are you really getting the best and highest use out of your location? Crowding merchandise into your shop actually cuts down on sales. Includes The Convertible Dressing Room, TGtbT’s SPAN Plan, and more

Selling MORE…to MORE People…MORE Often The best way, of course, to have enough room for new incoming is to sell everything, and fast! This booklet is chock-full of ideas to increase your bottom line by moving more product every day.

Here’s to 2013 being the year that you’re selling so much, you have to encourage incoming goods every day of the year!
