Donation Etiquette: An example to inspire you, from a non-profit thrift

June 25, 2013 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

Rung is a not-for-profit shop which operates with donated goods, and I think all resale shopkeepers can imagine that these types of shops have even more challenges to face at the incoming area than consignment and buy-outright shops!

Study this video and think about how your shop could use something similar for your web site or blog.

Don’t you LOVE how they have, at the end, a little bit on shopping, and of course, all the contact info needed to pop on over there? See all the videos Rung created here.

Would love to see it when you get it done, Lida! Hope you have a few volunteers or supporters with some video making skills!

I liked the idea of giving your donors a bonus for bringing in items on the “wish list”. Maybe extend that idea and give a discount for bringing items in the desired condition – clean, on hangers, seasonal, etc.

I noticed that idea as well, Jan! “The Premium List”… but I wouldn’t give discounts for simply bringing things in “the right way” (Heck, how about a “you must pay 10% more ’cause you’re a PITA” coupons 😉 )

It is, isn’t it? So tell me why is your blog blank? Have you not been inspired by our resale-specific info on blogging for your shop? 😉
