Nothing special about my shop, no sirree.

August 22, 2013 by Auntie Kate of Too Good to be Threw

What? You were expecting to see some special event at my consignment or resale shop, just because my web site has a page called Special Events?

Well, sorry. “Nothing scheduled for a while.” There’s nothing special about my shop, so I fooled you into clicking for no reward. Don’t you feel foolish now? If you don't have a special event to post... make one up in your consignment shop!Okay, enough with the sarcasm. You get it. If you have a spot on your web site that’s reserved for Special Events or Our Calendar,

put something there.

You could, of course, make a special event (Pick one from 229 Promotional Events for Resale & Consignment Shops if you like) but you don’t have to always have a promotion going in your shop. After all, your shop’s pretty exciting just in its everyday guise, right?

So when you don’t have the energy or business need to do a particular event or promo, have a few quick, motivating sentences to cycle through on your Special Events page.

“Every day is like Christmas here… come see what “Santa” left for you!” or “A new shop every day!” or “Come see what we got in for you!” will tell potential customers that shopping OFTEN is the best way to shop.

Or say something seasonal on your Special Events page that makes your shop stand out from the retail crowd: “Get a great summer outfit for that Labor Day Barbeque” in August, perhaps, or “We’ll help you whip that guest room into stylish shape before the holidays” in October.

You get it. If you promise your viewers and customers something,

deliver on that promise.

What is on your web site page under “Special Events”? Tell us in the comments!
